SUMMARY:Kyle Tran Mhyre "Guante": Of What Future Are These the Wild\, Early Days? On Poetry\, Protest\, and Possibility
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar for our upcoming event with poet and activist Kyle Tran Mhyre “Guante” on April 24. There will be a morning meet and greet from 9:30 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. in the Wyoming Union Skylight Lounge. Then Kyle Tran Mhyre “Guante” will speak from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. in the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts Thrust Theatre. This event is free and open to everyone. We are hosting this in partnership with the University of Wyoming Violence Prevention Center \nStorytelling\, art\, and poetry can be powerful doorways into dialogue and critical thinking\, especially about issues related to how we move through the world\, how we treat one another\, and what narratives drive our values\, beliefs\, and actions. Just as a poem uses imagery and metaphor to “zoom in” on complex ideas\, building the community that we want to live in takes more than knowing the right terms or even believing the right things. We have to find ways to work together and make our values real in the world.

April is the perfect time to be transformed into a Wyoming summer day. \n“It’s about slowing down\, getting inspired for summer\, and enjoying a creative experience with friends\,” said René Williams\, SLA founder and artist. “We’re bringing together artists\, scientists\, makers\, musicians\, and the community for a full day of summer in April.” \nTickets are available online at 4thStreetStudios.com and Eventbrite\, and hurry before they sell out. Whether you’re a beer connoisseur\, a foodie\, a gardener\, a DIYer\, artist or just want to enjoy 5 local bands\, admission is donation-based with all proceeds going towards SLA. \nScience Loves Art (SLA) is a Wyoming 501c3 nonprofit whose mission is to bring art\, science and community together through discovery\, creation and experience. Art and science have been separated into different categories while SLA will remind us that science and art go hand in hand! Artist and founder\, René Williams was awarded the artist outreach for the Wyoming EPSCoR Microbial Ecology $20 million dollar grant in 2017. René made use of the funding to start this nonprofit SLA and begin programming with SLA Kits\, festivals\, and exhibitions for the public to enjoy. SLA has a diverse board\, broad volunteer base and committed sponsors to support their mission. \nBumbleBrew Fest is supported by Visit Laramie\, Wyoming Arts Council\, City of Laramie\, Albany County\, Wyoming Community Foundation and 4th Street Studios. SUMMARY:1st Street Parking And ADA Improvements Public Meeting
DESCRIPTION:– The City of Laramie is inviting residents\, business owners\, and community members to help shape the future of South 1st Street and the Depot Park area through a public outreach initiative that begins May 15. The effort focuses on improving parking\, accessibility\, and storm drainage in one of Downtown Laramie’s most active and historic areas. \nA public Neighborhood Meeting will be held on Thursday\, May 15\, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. and again from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Historic Railroad Depot (600 1st Street). This meeting is an opportunity for the community to learn more about the project\, view early design concepts\, and provide feedback. \nIn tandem with the meeting\, the City will launch an online survey on May 15\, accessible at http://bit.ly/4iE5LPP\, offering a convenient way for those unable to attend in person to share their input.\n“This area is the heart of so many key events like Jubilee Days\, the Farmer’s Market\, and Brewfest\,” said Assistant City Manager Todd Feezer. “We’re working to ensure that future improvements reflect the needs and values of the community.” \nThe project\, led by the City of Laramie in collaboration with WWC Engineering and Norris Design\, is currently in the conceptual design phase. Feedback gathered will inform a preferred plan to enhance infrastructure while maintaining the character of the Historic Laramie Depot and surrounding spaces.\nFor more information or to schedule a meeting outside of the designated event times\, community members are encouraged to contact Todd Feezer at tfeezer@cityoflaramie.org.
