SUMMARY:2025 Wyoming Archaeology Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Archaeology Fair is a beloved annual event held at the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site in Laramie! \nThis is a FREE event open to the public. \nThe fair showcases Wyoming’s cultural heritage including Indigenous lifeways and historic activities. Attendees are invited to try their hand at flint knapping\, atlatl throwing\, pottery making\, hide painting\, cordage making\, yucca processing\, and more. Additionally\, attendees will have an opportunity to meet local archaeologists\, ask questions\, and find answers. There are many special guests like the Wind River Dancers who demonstrate a variety of Indigenous dance styles – they will be performing at 1 pm\, don’t miss it! \nBuilt in 1872 and restored in 1989\, the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site is a must-visit in Laramie. Be sure to take a tour of the Prison\, or learn how to make a broom or both! Stops along the tour include furnished cells\, the prisoners’ dining area\, guard’s quarters\, infirmary\, women’s quarters\, laundry room\, warden’s office\, and the Butch Cassidy exhibit gallery.

When two overzealous hermits find an abandoned orphan named Mary\, they scheme a saintly rescue mission to protect her purity at any and all costs. Mary\, however\, has other plans for herself\, in this new play inspired by Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim’s closet drama-comedy Abraham\, or the Rise and Repentance of Mary.  \nThe opening weekend of performances is September 5th and September 6th 2025 at 7:30 pm. At 10:15 am we will have our recognition ceremony and walk. We return to the band shell where we will enjoy lunch and more music. The event will conclude at 12 pm\, which will provide enough time for people attending the University of Wyoming football game to make their way to Tailgate Park to enjoy the UW festivities.
