Even the coyotes will probably blink at the neon river of runners! \nWitches cackling past sparkly superheroes\, and fluorescent fairies zipping by light-up robots\, all kicking up a joyful fuss for a fantastic cause. Every giggle and every glowing step means more support for human trafficking survivors. By the time the last luminous runner crosses the makeshift line (marked by a very enthusiastic volunteer!)\, the night will be a success – a whirlwind of whimsical fun fueled by a whole lotta heart. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations\, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from prominent scholars as well as opposing pastors\, including the personal stories of the film’s creators\, 1946 is at once challenging\, enlightening\, and inspiring. Refreshments and discussion will follow the screening. The screening is sponsored by St. Paul’s\, the Shepard Symposium on Social Justice and PFLAG Laramie. SUMMARY:8th Annual Underachievers .5k Race Presented by Toyota of Laramie
DESCRIPTION:This is not your typical race. \nRacers can run\, walk\, crawl\, or use any form of non-motorized transportation to compete in an untimed .5k – note the decimal… this race is total of about 500 yards. \nThe race begins and ends at the Washington Park basketball court and race start time is 10am-ish \nCostumes are encouraged and there will be prizes for the best costume and best team costume. \nDonuts and coffee will be available for racers to refuel at the halfway point\, and racers receive a beer at the finish line to celebrate completing the race! \nWe have games along the race course as well!  We’ve put our own spin on some classic yard games but we make them very simple as we don’t want our racers to have to work too hard. \nThe best part is it’s all for charity!  Proceeds from racer registrations will be donated to The Downtown Clinic. \n

The play runs September 5th through 13th in the Studio Theatre at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.  \nThis play is directed by Sean Coyle and features Aurora Dunning\, Patch Kluge\, Kim Lockhart\, Jared Mohr-Leiva\, and Hannah Waskowitz.  \nPlay Description:  \nIt’s the 10th century! A plague rages on in Germany! Everyone is turning into foam! When two overzealous hermits find an abandoned orphan named Mary\, they scheme a saintly rescue mission to protect her purity at any and all costs. Mary\, however\, has other plans for herself\, in this new play inspired by Hrotsvitha of Gandersheim’s closet drama-comedy Abraham\, or the Rise and Repentance of Mary.  \nThe opening weekend of performances is September 5th and September 6th 2025 at 7:30 pm. Performances continue September 10th\, 11th\, 12th and 13th at 7:30pm. All performances are located at the UW Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts in the Studio Theatre. A preview pay-what-you-can performance will take place at 7:30pm on September 4th\, 2025. SUMMARY:2025 Wyoming Archaeology Fair
DESCRIPTION:The Wyoming Archaeology Fair is a beloved annual event held at the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site in Laramie! \nThis is a FREE event open to the public. \nThe fair showcases Wyoming’s cultural heritage including Indigenous lifeways and historic activities. Attendees are invited to try their hand at flint knapping\, atlatl throwing\, pottery making\, hide painting\, cordage making\, yucca processing\, and more. Additionally\, attendees will have an opportunity to meet local archaeologists\, ask questions\, and find answers. There are many special guests like the Wind River Dancers who demonstrate a variety of Indigenous dance styles – they will be performing at 1 pm\, don’t miss it! \nBuilt in 1872 and restored in 1989\, the Wyoming Territorial Prison State Historic Site is a must-visit in Laramie. Be sure to take a tour of the Prison\, or learn how to make a broom or both! Stops along the tour include furnished cells\, the prisoners’ dining area\, guard’s quarters\, infirmary\, women’s quarters\, laundry room\, warden’s office\, and the Butch Cassidy exhibit gallery.
