DESCRIPTION:From the organizers: \nTuesday Local Market\, Laramie\, Wyoming’s local farmers market\, returns to Undine Park this summer every Tuesday in July and August from 3:00 to 6:30pm. The market hosts about 25 vendors from Laramie and Southeast Wyoming\, including organically grown produce\, food and beverage trucks\, fresh made pasta\, sides and baked goods\, art\, crafts and non-profits offering local resources and information\, as well as live local music weekly. \nHeld in the Southeast corner of Undine Park\, Tuesday Local Market offers a laid-back family friendly atmosphere\, including kids’ activities like face painting and the opportunity to chill on the grass with a meal while listening to live local music from blues to folk and more. This year\, Tuesday Local Market teams up with Laramie Cruiser Ride\, a fun group meeting in themed costume to ride around town on cruiser bikes. The market and vendors will join the cheer with weekly specials and other goodies.\nTuesday Local Market\, headed by a volunteer Board of Directors\, is a community organization that exists to host and promote sustainable\, fresh\, and local food and products throughout the summer for community members and visitors of all ages. The market ran as Thursday Local Market for many years and closed after the 2021 season. At the request of many community members\, the market reorganized and reopened in summer 2024. \nFind Tuesday Local Market on Tuesday afternoons\, from July 1 through August 26\, at the southeast corner of 7th and Ord Streets in Undine Park in Laramie. SUMMARY:Relative Theatrics: Play/Write Showcase Of ACSD#1 Student Authored Plays
DESCRIPTION:Relative Theatrics (RT) presents the 3rd Annual Play/Write Showcase on May 22nd in the Thrust Theatre of UW’s Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts (BCPA). This showcase consists of 10 student-written plays and is the culmination of the third year of RT’s education initiative: Play/Write Wyoming.  \nSince the fall of 2024\, RT staff members & teaching artists Will Bowling\, Kim Lockhart and Sean Coyle\, have been working with 5th graders at Linford and Slade Elementaries\, and 4th-6th graders at Rock River Elementary\, to teach a 21-week curriculum that focuses on theatre arts skills\, and creative writing and literacy academic standards. Over the course of the year\, students learned improvisation exercises and acting techniques\, and were taught the basics of script writing. Each student has written an original short play of their own that will be bound and published by RT.  \n“Play/Write offers students in Albany County a much-needed arts education program\, and hopes to foster a new generation of writers\, performers and theatre goers\,” says RT Education Director Will Bowling. RT’s Play/ Write Program is modeled after a program of the same name Bowling helped start in New Orleans in 2010\, which continues to grow and serve public school students. The Relative Theatrics Education Team has adapted the program to fit the needs of students in Laramie\, hopes to expand to service all Albany County schools by the 26/27 academic year\, and to other parts of the state in the coming years.  \nAs a celebration of all student work\, 10 plays will be performed by Wyoming theatre artists from all backgrounds. Participating companies include artists from Relative Theatrics\, Laramie’s own The Unexpected Company\, a group of University of Wyoming theatre students\, a high school group from the WYO Performing Arts and Education center in Sheridan\, and the STAGE III Theater Company from Casper. The evening will be a community celebration of student creativity and the talents of intergenerational theater artists from around the state.  \nPlay/Write Wyoming will be performed as a morning field trip for participating students\, and then RT will host an evening showcase for the general public at 7PM\, with seating beginning at 6:30PM. The event is free\, open to the public\, and suitable for all ages. Relative Theatrics is committed to providing universal access to all of our events. American Sign Language accommodations can be made as necessary. This meeting is an opportunity for the community to learn more about the project\, view early design concepts\, and provide feedback. \nIn tandem with the meeting\, the City will launch an online survey on May 15\, accessible at http://bit.ly/4iE5LPP\, offering a convenient way for those unable to attend in person to share their input.\n“This area is the heart of so many key events like Jubilee Days\, the Farmer’s Market\, and Brewfest\,” said Assistant City Manager Todd Feezer. “We’re working to ensure that future improvements reflect the needs and values of the community.” \nThe project\, led by the City of Laramie in collaboration with WWC Engineering and Norris Design\, is currently in the conceptual design phase.
