UW Jazz Festival And Performances

Mark your calendars for Monday, February 23, 2026, as the UWYO Jazz Festival returns for a day of high-energy music and world-class education.
This annual highlight brings together middle and high school ensembles for workshops and clinics, culminating in a must-see evening performance at the Buchanan Center for the Performing Arts.
The spotlight this year is on headliner Michael Dease, a 5x DownBeat Magazine “Trombonist of the Year” and a 2025 Guggenheim Fellow. Known for his “versatile sound and signature improvisations,” Dease has been featured on over 250 recordings alongside legends like Alicia Keys and Christian McBride. A Juilliard graduate and distinguished professor at Michigan State University, Dease is a true master of the craft who has revitalized the trombone’s image for a new generation.
Don’t miss this chance to hear a jazz titan live in the Cowboy State!
