Celebrating America’s 250th with Freedom Has a Birthday

See below for a flier with the full and exact schedule of events.

The City of Laramie is excited to celebrate the United States’ 250th anniversary with the 35th annual Freedom Has a Birthday, presented by Rocky Mountain Power. This Old-Fashioned 4th of July Celebration is a free, family-friendly event that takes place at Washington Park that will have something for everyone.

From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., attendees can enjoy live music, interactive activities, local retail and food vendors, along with brand-new old-fashioned games. We will begin the day at 10 a.m. with a welcome kick-off at the Edgar J. Lewis Bandshell announced by Parks and Rec Director Mike Bork.

This kick-off will include a flag ceremony performed by the Marine Corps League Detachment 777, recognition of local organizations WyoTech and Laramie Montessori Charter School for volunteer efforts, and a performance by the Laramie Municipal Band. From here, the day will continue with several more live music performances and activities throughout the park.

The Laramie Fire Department will be doing the park hose down again this year, with hose downs lasting for ten minutes, starting at 11 a.m., 12 p.m., and 1 p.m. In addition to this, the Masonic Temple is providing free ice cream from Meadow Gold Dairy, and the City will have an inflatable obstacle course and ropes course set up.

Washington Park facilities, including the wading pool and playgrounds, will remain open during this can’t-miss summer event.
