A Sometimes Paradise: Reflections on Life in a Wyoming Ranch Family

On Tuesday, February 17th, please join the Albany County Historical Society at 7:00pm at the Alice Hardie Stevens Center at 6th & University in Laramie. Mark E. Miller will present a free program on and talk about his award-winning book “A Sometimes Paradise: Reflections on Life in a Wyoming Ranch Family,” published in 2024. We have all come upon a beautiful place and said to ourselves “If only this place could talk . . . oh, the stories it could tell.” Through Mark Miller’s memoir, he has ensured that the land his family owned and managed for over a century will forever tell us its stories. Mark’s book introduces us to four generations of his Miller family whose lives were intertwined with the I Lazy D Ranch. Mark served as Wyoming State Archaeologist for three decades. He spent his youth and early adulthood on the ranch started in 1881 by his great-grandfather Isaac “Ike” Miller (1844-1912), who immigrated from Denmark in 1865.
