Special Election In Laramie For 6th Penny Tax

A Special election will take place in Albany County on May 5th, allowing local voters to say yay or nay to a proposal for their sixth penny tax.
A January 6th city council meeting had Mayor Cumbie say the entirety of the estimated $95 million that would be raised would be spent improving the lives of those who live here.
Laramie would get just over $5 mil, Albany county would get just under $44 million while the Laramie airport would get $4 mil and Rock River would see a little under $2 mil.
Projects in Laramie would include renovating or reconstructing city buildings for emergency services, animal shelter and rec center. There would also be street paving, buildouts stormwater infrastructure and sidewalk work being done.
Most of the counties money would be spent on building a new administrative services building. The airport and city of Rock river would look at a number of small projects.
